Delegates attending next month’s New Zealand Rural General Practice Network conference in Queenstown will don their running shoes and trek around the lakefront in aid of an education trust set up in honour of the late Dr Pat Farry.

The fun run is sponsored by Queenstown Medical Centre, which Dr Farry was instrumental in establishing, in conjunction with Southern Cross Primary Care.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 10, starting at 7am. Participants will assemble at the start-finish line near the entrance to Queenstown Gardens (opposite the Bath House), before proceeding around the lakefront on the Frankton track.

There will be a short safety briefing before the start and presentation of spot prizes in the evening. The Lakes District Council has endorsed the event.
St John will have staff and resources available and medical students will act as marshals on the day.
The run is open to the public and supporters of The Pat Farry Rural Health Education Trust. Entry is by koha with proceeds going to the trust. It is envisaged that the fun run/walk will become an annual fixture at the Network’s conferences.
